Nicole Zabel of Palmerston helped the North American Selects 98’s win the championship for three tournaments – the AAA Burlington Renegades Champions, the Toronto Pre-Season Spectacular tournament and the Pro Hockey Ponytail Challenge.
The North American Selects are an elite AAA girls U10 spring/summer hockey team comprised of players from Ontario, Michigan, New York and California. The team includes Zabel on defence.
The team recently won the Pro Hockey Ponytail Challenge in Vaughan. They played five games on their way to the championship and scored 27 goals, while allowing only one. The North American Selects will also be competing against older players at the NAPS (North American Prospects Showcase) tournament in Buffalo, and a final tournament in Boston, the Lady Flames tournament.
This fall and winter, Zabel will be playing her fourth season with the Huron Perth Lakers AAA boys team.
