After losing a disappointing and attainable series against Wingham, the Minto Rep Bantam hockey team entered in a six-game round robin series against BCH (Bayfield, Clinton, Hensall), Hanover and Shallow Lake.
Throughout this series, Minto earned 29 goals while only giving up 13. They made it a clean sweep, winning all six games. BCH 4-2 and 7-1, Hanover 4-2 and 8-4 and two close games with Shallow Lake at 3-2.
The entire team earned points and contributed to the wins - Derrik Riff (two goals, three assists), Greg Allen (five goals, four assists), Brendan Aitken (four goals, five assists), Cole Leslie (two goals, eight assists), Josh Hoffele (eight goals, two assists), Keaton Ross (three goals, two assists), Tristan Small (one goal), Cameron Ellis (one goal, one assist), Todd Reiner (one goal, one assist), Todd Donkersgoed (two goals, two assists), Curtis Shorey (three assists), Leigh Mercey (one assist), Cameron Charlebois (two assists), Josh Underwood (three assists), and Derril Hoover (one assist). The team appreciates and commends affiliated goalies from the Bantam LL and Atom Rep teams. Nick MacDougall, Quinton Donkersgoed and Tyler Reiner have been amazing in net.
The Bantams have now entered a best two-out-of-three series against Seaforth. The winner from this series will play the winner from a Durham/Shallow Lake series. Minto played their first game in Seaforth on March 6. They took an early lead when Riff shot two between the pipes in the first period. Mercey made it a 3-0 game and Hoffele added two more to finish off the second period leading 5-2. Leslie and Donkersgoed added a couple unassisted goals to end the game 7-2. Earning assists were Ross (two), Mercey (two), Shorey, Underwood, Leslie and Hoffele. Game two took place on Tuesday, March 9 (results not available as of press time).
