The Lucknow Lancers have won the best-of-seven series with the Palmerston 81’s in four straight games.
The Lancers won game one on Feb. 13 by a score of 8-6. Palmerston’s Ryan Black got his hat trick, and the 81’s had a one-goal lead (6-5) well into the third period, but Lucknow managed to score three unanswered goals for the win.
Lucknow dominated the second game on Feb. 14 in Palmerston, taking an early lead and pounding the Palmerston goaltender with shot after shot for a 7-3 win. Black scored two of the three Palmerston goals.
Game three in Lucknow was much the same, with the Lancers winning 7-4.
The final game on Feb. 20 saw the Lancers score nine goals to Palmerston’s three and take the series. The 81’s had a very short bench but didn’t give up easily. Scott Walls held Lucknow off as long as he could, but the 81’s were outnumbered and outgunned.
The most outstanding Palmerston players of the series were goalie Scott Walls, Curtis Pinder and Tiny Cochrane.
