Sunday, Feb. 20 was the kick-off day of the 2010 Bowl for Kids campaign.
As always, the local politicians were out in full force showing their good sportsmanship and their support for Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs. In attendance were MP Gary Schellenberger, MPP John Wilkinson and Minto Mayor Dave Anderson. The three were joined by Little Brother Dexter in throwing the balls to start the campaign.
Teams from the Minto/Mapleton area came out to help raise $18,270. This is a great start towards this year’s goal of $60,000.
The campaign goes until March 7. The Mount Forest community bowls Sunday, Feb. 28 and Arthur on March 7, so if you have not already entered a team and wish to do so, call 519-323-4273. There are school challenges happening, with Arthur Public and Palmerston Public participating.
The awards breakfast will be held April 24.
