Lorne Underwood is determined to find enough people to bring curling back to Clifford. There is a need to ‘think rink’ and fill more hours at the arena in Clifford.
Forty years ago, curling was strong in the community.
It is Underwood’s intention to start a curling club in Clifford, beginning with a youth club of high school-aged players at 6:30 p.m. with adult curling starting at 8 p.m.
The reasonable rates for 17 nights of curling would fall between $110 to $125 a season, which would be about $6 a session.
Ideally, Underwood is looking for 40 members to fill 10 teams, but he is willing to start with a smaller number. There are enough rocks to accommodate everyone who shows up to play.
Underwood has posted signup sheets at the Royal Bank, Leonard’s Place, Clifford Village Variety, Grein Lumber, Van Eyl Trailers, AgroTrend, the post office and the restaurants - Redwood, Greenley’s, and Patti’s Place.
