Norwell Redmen boys soccer clubs lose district finals

Halloween was a scary day for both of the local high school soccer teams.
The Norwell Redmen junior and senior boys clubs both lost the District 4 finals.
The juniors lost 3-2 to the Wellington Heights Wolverines on Monday, Oct. 31. The seniors also dropped a 3-2 decision to the Westside Thunder. Drew Cowan scored both goals.
The seniors still qualify for CWOSSA next May.

VOLLEYBALL
In senior boys volleyball, the Redmen smoked the Wolverines 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-10) and College Heights 3-0 (25-6, 25-19, 25-13).
The juniors went 6-0 against the same two clubs: 25-17, 25-10, 25-18 and 25-14, 25-17, 25-9. With the regular season now in the books, the semifinals started yesterday (Nov. 8). Norwell (7-1, first) faced the Wolverines (2-6, fourth). If they won, they’re in the finals tomorrow.
The seniors (10-0, first) also hosted a semifinal yesterday versus the Wolverines (5-5, fourth). They’re also in the finals tomorrow pending a victory.

BASKETBALL
The junior girls basketball team lost their season finale 43-22 to the Wolverines. Laura Rumph and Laura Roth scored eight points apiece.
The Redmen (8-2, second) hosted a semifinal on Monday against the Thunder (5-5, third). The final would be today.
The seniors rounded out the season with a 34-21 defeat at the hands of the Wolverines. Karlee Duggan scored 11. The Redmen (1-9) missed the playoffs.

HOCKEY
The boys hockey team lost their season opener last Thursday 3-2. Cody Ferguson and Zach Franklin scored for the visitors.
