The Kinette Club of Palmerston and District will benefit from a $45,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant.
Perth-Wellington MPP John Wilkinson visited Palmerston on Jan. 25 to announced the grant.
The Kinettes plan to use the grant to help purchase a portable concession booth trailer, plus the related food preparation equipment. Wilkinson was joined by Catharine Collins, a member of the local Ontario Trillium Foundation grant review team, to celebrate the news. “I am delighted that the local Kinette Club will receive this grant,” stated Wilkinson. “We are fortunate to have such dedicated community volunteers working together in our rural community. Now, the Kinettes will be able to raise even more funds at community festivals and other events. This will support both local Kinette projects as well as other not-for-profit organizations in Palmerston and area.”
“The Palmerston and District Kinette Club would like to express our gratitude to the Trillium Foundation for this incredible opportunity,” stated club president, Jennifer Searson. “With this grant, our service club will be able to give back to the community in a variety of areas, as this concession trailer will be a beacon of community service wherever we go. We thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Province of Ontario for allowing us the opportunity to increase the level at which we serve the community’s greatest need. This is an exciting time for us and we hope this excitement will attract women in our area to join our group, feel the empowerment, share in friendship and reap the benefits of being a part of our club and this community.”
Minto mayor David Anderson said, “The new portable concession unit purchased through funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation will benefit the community and surrounding area. The Palmerston Kinette Club will be better able to support our local festivals and events.”
The Kinette Club of Palmerston and District, incorporated as a not for profit organization in 1989, strives to function as a “dynamic volunteer organization” that enriches communities through service by embracing “national pride, positive values, personal development and lasting friendships” (taken from the Kin Canada Mission Statement). The club focuses on fundraising for both local and national causes.
