The board of directors of Hospice Wellington announces the appointment of Rosslyn Bentley as executive director.
Bentley will take on her new role effective March 8, 2010. “Rosslyn joins Hospice Wellington at a significant time as we move towards the opening of our residential facility, the development of the hospice palliative care network and the building of partnerships to better serve our community,” said Jim MacKenzie, chair of the board of directors.
Bentley has more than 23 years experience in health care management, demonstrating a dedication to excellence across all sectors of the health care system. Bentley is recognized as an innovative leader within the Waterloo Wellington region and at the provincial level. She has been a director of health care services at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care and the Wellington-Dufferin Community Care Access Centre. During the past three years Bentley founded the Upper Grand Family Health Team in Fergus, and developed a team of primary care health professionals serving more than 26,000 patients.
“We anticipate that the building of the residential Hospice will raise our profile in the community,” said MacKenzie.
As executive director of Hospice Wellington, Bentley will lead a small team of dedicated staff and more than 250 trained volunteers. With the launch of the residential hospice, due to open in June 2010, there will be an intensive recruitment of new staff and volunteers, as well as the excitement of commissioning the new building at 795 Scottsdale Road Guelph.
