HARRISTON — The new Harriston library branch is still on track to re-open in May, as long as the new building gets electrical power soon.
Wellington County construction manager Kevin Mulholland updated members county library board Jan. 11 on the status of the library project.
Mechanical and electrical installations are among the list of things to be done, and Mulholland said it’s important for the building to get power by the end of January.
“If we don’t get power by the end of the month, it will put the project back,” he said.
According to his status report, roof trusses and the roof deck have been installed and work on the flat roof and roof shingling is ongoing.
On the “upcoming” list are continued installation of steel stud insulation and exterior masonry, and it’s expected the shingled roof and poured insulation will be finished. Windows will begin to be installed and copper roofing will begin.
Library board members asked about the $50,655 in change orders approved so far in the project, and were told most of the cost is for an additional fire hydrant not originally anticipated in the plans....please read more in this weeks Minto Express
